A planning proposal was lodged requesting a change to the zone by one of the following options

a) re-zone to the lot size map (current zone RU4 (rural 1A) with a 40ha min lot size (lot size zone ab2)), Council (and the DPT Planning) advised that they needed to do a review of the Strategic Plan

b) change of zone to small rural village

c) change of zone to residential

A consultant was engaged, numerous meetings were attended, the Mayor visited the Estate and numerous reports were prepared to furnish Council with the required proposals.

This was undertaken without any conclusive measures taken to really consider any amendments to the current Strategic Plan, however, Council have asked for a more comprehensive PP with a further 19 reports to be submitted. As this would be a huge expense to the community and Council would not give us any assurity we agreed not to proceed.

Just around the corner Cessnock Council have approved a mixed use estate of tourist accommodation and permanent accommodation at “The Vintage Estate”  and another not far from Broke Road, Kelman Estate which is also a residential Estate.
